The short answer
For one wall-mounted split system, a proper clean in Perth costs around $210 to $290, depending on whether the unit is treated in place or fully stripped down. A ducted system is around $250 and an evaporative cooler service around $290. Extra split systems cleaned on the same visit are cheaper, because the set-up is already done.
Here are our fixed prices, so you've got something concrete to compare against:
| System | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Split system — treatment clean | $210 | Chemical treatment of the indoor unit and the outdoor compressor, evaporator cleaned inside and out, drain flushed, slow-release drain tablet, filters washed |
| Split system — deep clean | $290 | Everything above, plus the whole unit stripped down, barrel fan and casing washed by hand, coil pressure washed until the water runs clear |
| Each extra split (same visit) | $90 | Same clean as the first unit |
| Ducted reverse cycle | $250 | Return air grille and filter, fan coil in the roof space, reachable flexible ducts vacuumed, every ceiling outlet washed, outdoor unit cleaned |
| Evaporative cooler | $290 | Tank drained and descaled, pads flushed or replaced, pump, float and fan cleaned, refilled and tested |

Why some aircon cleans are so much cheaper
You'll see cheaper prices around Perth. Before you book one, ask exactly what's included. The cheap end of the market is often:
- A filter rinse and a can of spray. The filter is the only part you can already clean yourself. The mould lives behind it, on the coil and the barrel fan.
- Indoor unit only. The outdoor condenser gets skipped, even though a clogged condenser is what pushes your power bill up.
- No drain flush. Most "leaking aircon" call-outs are a blocked drain line, and a clean that leaves the drain alone leaves the problem in place.
- No bag, no rinse. Foam sprayed on a coil and not rinsed off drains into the tray and can block the line it was meant to clear.
- Add-ons at the door. A low headline price, then extras for the outdoor unit, the drain or "heavy mould" once someone's already on site.
A good question to ask any aircon cleaner: "Do you take the cover off, bag the unit, clean the barrel fan and flush the drain — and does the price include the outdoor unit?"
What can push the price up
Across the industry, these are the things that usually change the price of an air con clean:
- How many units. The first unit carries the set-up time; extra units on the same visit cost less.
- Access. A head mounted over a staircase, an outdoor unit two storeys up, a steep roof for an evap cooler, or a tight roof space for a ducted fan coil.
- Condition. A unit that hasn't been cleaned in years, or one that's black with mould, needs a full strip-down rather than a treatment clean.
- System type. Multi-head splits are priced per indoor head. Ducted and evaporative systems are priced per system.
That's why we ask for photos first. You get a fixed price by email, and that's the price you pay.
Is aircon cleaning worth the money?
For most Perth homes, yes — once a year. A clean coil and filter let the system move air the way it was designed to, so it cools the room faster and runs for less time. You get rid of the musty smell at start-up, you stop breathing in what's growing on the fan, and you clear the drain before it overflows down the wall.
If anyone in the house has asthma or allergies, or you have pets, it's worth doing every six months.
